FULL TIME
Registered Nurse Level 1


Reports to the Director of Donor Services. Previous blood banking experience an asset, but not necessary. We will provide additional training.

Job Requirements:

The Registered Nurse Level 1 position requires flexibility in scheduling and providing the utmost in customer service to the patient and/or donor at all times. One must be able to interact and communicate in a professional manner at all times with Blood Center personnel from all departments and chairpeople at the blood drives.
Minimum Education:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing.
  • New Jersey and Pennsylvania Registered Nursing license required.

Minimum Experience:

0-6 months nursing experience.

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for complete medical history assessment and drawing blood through standardized methods from donors and/or patients.
  • In the absence of Mobile Supervisor, organizes staff work assignments and effectively manages blood drives.
  • Adheres to all Community Blood Council of New Jersey, Inc. standard operating procedures (SOP), current good manufacturing practices and safety procedures.
  • Determines appropriate donor suitability.
  • Performs an accurate and conclusive medical history in according with the SOP
  • Proficient in performing finger-sticks
  • Performs other related duties as needed and assigned.

Phlebotomist:

Full-Time Position. 

Reports to the Bloodmobile Manger and the Director of Donor Services.  Variable hours, including some evenings and weekends.  Interfaces with Recruitment and Transportation departments.

Job Requirements:

  1. Must be certified in phlebotomy or have equivalent experience
  2. Must be flexible with their schedule to accommodate the work schedule for blood drives, including weekend and evening hours.
  3. Must be able to communicate and interact in a professional manner at all times with blood donors and Blood Center personnel.
  4. Must be neat, courteous and orderly.

Job Duties:

  1. Must be able to take vital signs, including but not limited to manual blood pressures, temperatures, pulse rate.
  2. Perform finger sticks to check blood donor hemoglobin
  3. Perform phlebotomies with a minimum of unsuccessful draws and complaints using a 16 gauge needle
  4. Performs blood donor medical histories accurately according to the SOP
  5. Needs to be able to accurately document medical terminology on blood donor histories to include both medical conditions and medications

Data Entry/Medical Records Clerk:

Full-Time Position. 

Reports to the Director of Quality Assurance. Previous blood banking experience an asset, but not necessary. We will provide additional training.

Exposure Control Officer/Quality Assurance Assistant:

Full-Time Position. 

Reports directly to the Quality Assurance Director, is responsible for administration of the safety polices and quality assurance of the Blood Center.

Minimum Education:

  • Associate’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Degree or Nursing Certificate from a national certifying agency. Five years experience working in an FDA licensed facility may be substituted for the Associate’s degree.
  • Minimum experience: Must have a minimum of 2 years experience working in a hospital laboratory or blood bank.
  • Experience with Safe Trace computer system or similar computer system a plus.

Job Duties:

  1. Oversees the administration and maintenance of the Blood Council Safety Program.
  2. Keep current with all new regulations for CDC and OSHA.
  3. Notifies the QA Director of any changes necessary to SOPs.
  4. Assists with employee training in Universal Precautions and fire safety.
  5. Conducts random inspections for safety hazards in the blood center.
  6. Assists the QA Director with all Blood Center inspections.
  7. Maintains competence in all safety related tasks.
  8. Assists in the preparation of employee injury reports in compliance with OSHA regulations.
  9. Prepares recalls, look backs, and error/accident reports.
  10. Assists in the response to deficiencies given by FDA, State Department and AABB inspections.
  11. General knowledge of Blood Banking testing.
  12. Experience with Safe Trace or other blood bank computer systems.

Bloodmobile Driver:

Full-Time Position. 

Reports to the Transportation Manager and Director. Variable hours, including some evenings and weekends. Interfaces with Recruitment and Donor Services Staff.

Job Requirements:

  1. HS graduate or GED
  2. Valid driver’s license with no violations
  3. Minimum 3 years experience as a licensed driver; professional license preferred, but not required.
  4. Must be familiar with roads and towns in New Jersey and Pennsylvania
  5. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  6. Must be neat, courteous and orderly.

Job Duties:

  1. Transport equipment and personnel to and from blood drives
  2. Set up and take down equipment
  3. Handle blood products
